Privacy Policy

North Liverpool College is the data controller for the personal information described here. The College is registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office under registration ZB913639, and handles personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

We collect your name, contact details, date of birth, nationality and country of residence when you apply or enrol; the academic record we build while you study, including subjects, marks, attendance and work you submit; payment records, which cover the amount, the date and the method — card details themselves are handled by our payment provider and never reach us; correspondence you send us; and technical information your browser provides, such as your address and the pages you open.

Why we hold it

We hold your details in order to carry out the agreement between us: to assess your application, deliver the programme you enrolled on, mark your work, issue your qualification and take payment. We hold some records because the law requires it, particularly financial records. We rely on your consent for anything optional, such as our newsletter, and you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting anything else.

Children in the Future Makers Academy

A learner in the Academy is aged between 6 and 17. Their account is held under a parent or guardian, who provides the consent for it and can see their child's progress. We ask for no more about a child than the programme needs: a name, an age and the record of their learning. We do not use a child's information for marketing, and we do not share it outside the College other than as described below.

Who else sees it

We share your information only where it is needed to do what you asked of us. Payments are processed by Stripe, which receives the amount and the details you enter on its own secure page. Where you ask us to arrange notarial, Apostille or consular legalisation, the documents concerned are passed to the relevant authority. A student registered through a partner institution has their academic record shared with that institution. We use service providers for hosting and email who act only on our instructions. We will disclose information where the law requires it. We do not sell personal data, and we never will.

Where it is held

Our systems are hosted in the United Kingdom and the European Union. Where information is transferred outside the UK — for example to a partner institution or a legalisation authority abroad — that transfer is made under the safeguards the UK GDPR requires.

How long we keep it

Application and academic records are kept for the period a qualification may need to be verified, since a certificate can be checked years after it was issued. Financial records are kept for seven years, as tax law requires. Enquiries and newsletter details are kept until you ask us to remove them. When a record is no longer needed it is deleted.

Your rights

You have the right to ask what we hold about you and to receive a copy; to have anything inaccurate corrected; to have information erased where we no longer need it; to restrict or object to how we use it; and to receive the details you gave us in a portable form. Where a child is concerned, these rights are exercised by their parent or guardian.

To exercise any of these, write to support@nlc.edu.eu. We reply within one month. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, and doing so does not affect any other right you have.

Changes

Where this notice changes we publish the new version on this page. Where a change materially affects how we use your information, we tell you directly.
